I have used Rawshooter Essentials very much and I love its intuitive and
simple user interface. However, running a windows program under Wine is
quite slow, so I compared all the available Linux raw-converters and voéla,
Rawstudio won!

Rawstudio has a very similar interface than what I got used to with
Rawshooter. In addition, Rawstudio has extra features like curves (!!!),
crop, straighten, open 8-bit photos(!!!), wiser folder browser, etc. With
just a few simple sliders you can make all the necessary changes to the
photo. There are raw-converters that offer too many tools and end up with a
flooding UI that is not usable any more.

Rawstudio is also very very fast. And naturally, it is open source - do I
need to say more. :-) This ensures that the life span of the program will
continue practically forever and it is possible to fix bugs, add features
and tailor code for new cameras. These things can not be taken as granted
for closed source commercial software. For example, Rawshooter was bought
out of business, so all support ended rapidly.

Just compare Rawstudio 0.7 to Rawstudio 1.0. I must admit, that I didn't
find 0.7 ready for use for me personally, but 1.0 has improved so many
things so much, that Rawstudio now really deserves to be named as one point
zero. Congrats to the developers and thanks for listening to us users. Be
proud of yourselfs :-)
