I've just realised the differences between the 8 bit and the 16 bit tif
exports.

here is a comparison between 8 bit tif and 16 bit tif exports.

http://203.23.36.8/david/rawstudio/8bit16bit.jpg

If I open this raw file in UFRaw, it's preview looks like the darker 16
bit version, which means that if i manipulate the image in UFRaw the 16
bit exported image matches the preview.

If I manipulate the image in Rawstudio and then export in 8 bit, the
output matches the preview, but if I export 16 bit the output is
considerably darker and not usable.

I keep thinking I am missing something obvious. What is it?

I've been playing around with color management in Rawstudio, but I'm
getting frequent crashes, and when I do manage to export it doesn't seem
to make any difference to this problem.

I would much rather be using Rawstudio than UFRaw. I think it's a vastly
better work flow.

thanks

David.
