[Rawstudio-dev] interface remarks

I'm using the rawstudio for only about a year and I joined this list
some time ago in order to report my opinion on the flaws of its
interface. Reading the conversation about the new version in progress I
decided to hold on. However, seem like none of the things bugging me all
the time got any attention between the releases so I have speak up:
1) Imagine a photo, highlighted in the middle of the bunch. In case of
pressing "del" button the photo disappears (flagged for deletion) and
the selection disappears along with it. If you press any of the cursor
keys the selection shows up in the beginning of the whole list. In case
if you are browsing through a set of more than a hundred photos, loosing
your current position every time you delete something is not fun at all.
To my mind it would be more reasonable to shift the selection to the
next photo on the right.
2) there is no way to flag the photo back as "undelete" (or at least I
did not find one), and accidental pressing of buttons always happens.
3) pgUp/pgDwn keys don't do anything. Since the Rawstudio has a built in
picture browser it would be logical to map those to Prev/Next to be able
to list through the list of the pictures. At least, this is the
typical behavior for majority of image viewers (on any platform) and
feels natural.
4) the curve editor needs some work. In current realization it is very
difficult to work with points. Most of the time when I'm trying to shift
one point, another one gets created right next to it and the slope of
the curve suddenly gets extremely steep leading to total distortion of
the image. Such thing never happens to me when I work with gimp or
ufraw, so it must be something wrong with rawstudio. Maybe limiting the
range at which the new point on a curve can be created from the nearest
one will help?
5) sliders. The whole range of a slider is 3.0. The one mousewheel step
shifts the slider by 0.2, which is huge change to the picture. Cursor
buttons shift the sliders by 0.1 and no matter how hard I try to adjust
it manually by dragging with the mouse I can't tune it any finer than
by 0.2. So what is the point of those intermediate values after all?
Besides, It would be extremely valuable to have the editable field
indicating the current numeric value of a particular slider along with
increase/decrease buttons. You can find those in gimp, ufraw,
rawtherapee and everything else.
6) would be nice to have an option to tune some jpeg conversion
parameters (resampling algorithm, quality) since it seems that now those
are hardcoded?
I have a feeling that I've left something out, but even this list is
long enough already. Obviously, I cant finish without saying that I
appreciate all the hard work done so far this software and looking
forward to all the new features and improvements.

I'm running F9 x86_64 and F8 i386 on x86_64 hardware, should this matter.
/The nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from./
